Q.Squash blossoms

My neighbor thinks that when blossoms die the yellow squash quit growing so she picks before they have a chance to mature. I know better but can’t seem to convince her. HELP!

Well, You need both the male and female blossoms on the plant for successful pollination and fruit formation.
