Q.Split A Bird Of Paradise

Zone Pittstown,NJ 08867 | giora13 added on September 29, 2022 | Answered

I have a bird of paradise that is completely separated down to the soil–but is one plant. Do I have to remove this, now large, plant from its pot to split it, or can I remove some of the soil around the smaller section and remove that part of the plant–even if I have to cut some of the root to to it?

You can do either. Whichever is easier. Through, removing the entire root ball will allow you to refresh the soil. Both options are viable.
