How far apart would I plant spider plants outdoors? I have about 600 square feet where I want ground cover.

Spider plants can be spaced 2 feet apart when planted outdoors. They are good at spreading and filling in holes, so you can also plant them more sparsely if you don't mind waiting for them to fill in.
