Q.Should we replant a foxtail palm?

Zone Jupiter, Florida | Doug added on July 1, 2012 | Answered

The foxtail palm we planted about a year ago had grown to about 12 feet before being blown over in a severe storm a few days ago. The tree broke at the root ball with very few of the tubular roots still attached to the bulb at the base of the tree. Will it rejuenate if replanted? Thank you!

It may, but it is more likely it will not. That kind of damage will be difficult for the plant to overcome and it may be easier to start over with a new tree.
