Should I Be Pruning This Plant? If So, How?

We just moved into a new home and these blue hibiscus (Alyogyne huegelii) are planted in our courtyard. They are very tall and lanky, although in my research on them it looks like they eventually become bushy. Should I be cutting these back? And if so how? From the top? I’m a novice gardener and don’t want to screw it up! Lovely flowers….

They aren't a hibiscus but are related. Here is how to prune them:
