Weeds Growing Up Through Mortar In A Brick Patio

Question

Every year I have weeds growing up through the joints in my brick patio. I have sprayed, used vinegar and salt and am at my wits end. Suggestions?

Is the mortar missing in the spots they come through? If so, try touching up the mortar. Maybe sand would help block the weeds. Boiling water kills weeds, too, and you can try that as you see one coming up.
