Q.Saucer Magnolia Summer Leaf Drop

Zone 10952 | samdeeman added on July 20, 2020 | Answered

HI, I’ve got a mature Saucer Magnolia out in my front yard. It seems to have been infected with aphids and some powdery mildew. A tree expert recommended leaving it alone, while a chemical company wanted to spray bifenthrin. Meanwhile, I’ve been releasing Ladybugs hoping that’ll do something. Leaf Drop is present, please see pics below of the fallen leaves. Thanks! Sam

I would, certainly, recommend treating the aphids. It will be your choice as to how to do that, but chemical means are quite a bit more effective.
