sago wierd stuff

Question

I don’t know what is trying to grow under the dirt next to my sago. Its creepy looking. When you take the dirt away by the trunk about a foot away its like little balls of some sort of growth. No one seems to know what it is. I searched the internet but cant find anything like it. The growth is a yellow color.
