Q.Sago Plant

Anonymous added on July 20, 2011 | Answered

We just planted a sago plant on Friday and by Sunday night the palm leaves were all brown. We watered it twice a day for the first two days and on Sunday only once. We received it as a gift. It had been in a pot for 5 years and now we planted it right next to our newly grown grass that must be watered twice a day for 10-15 minutes. Please help! What could have happened? The temperature has been 105 degrees.

In temperatures like that, it is very hard for a plant to acclimate. If at all possible, you will want to keep the sun off of it. Keep watering it daily and water it deeply. You may even want to consider putting it back in the pot and try to plant it outside in either spring or fall when the weather is more sutible for transplanting.
