Q.Root Pruning When Growing In Containers

I am growing one emerald green in a 20 gallon container. How tall and wide will it get after 7 years? Can their roots be pruned (not their branches)?

Anytime you want to keep a plant in the same container you can root prune when it seems rootbound. Add fresh potting soil as much as you can, too. Those reach 12 to 15 feet in as many years, so they are growing about a foot a year. Here is more:
