Q.Rhubarb stalks

Can you still eat the stalks that have the black spots with a jellified eggy stuff coming out or do you need to discard the whole stock or can you cut around it and still salvage some of the stock and can you eat that

I would say this is either an infestation, disease or it could be from aging.
I would discard these and not consume.
