Q.Replanting Where There Has Been A Tree With Canker

I have a small prunus tree that that has severe canker. I want to replant another tree in a similar location and wish to know if the soil needs to be treated ?

I checked several articles about cankers and the only mention of pretreating was in the article below. It said it can help to pretreat for nematodes. The best prevention is buying trees well adapted to your region and taking proper care of them.
