Removing Weed And Grub Infested Tree Lawn Planting Ground Coverb

Question

I am replacing my tree lawn with violets as ground cover and cooper’s ice plant. I am removing all grass and weeds. I am finding Grubs as I dig up the turf. What do I do about them now ? If I use Killer ,what kind? and will it harm the plants. How long before I can plant safely? Time is running out. I am in Lake county ,Oh about five miles inland from lake Erie on Cuyahoga border. Thank you
