Remove Brown Leaves From Podicarpus Maki?

Question

I have 3 Podocarpus macrophyllus shrubs and two suffered heat distress the summer. Should I cut back the brown leaves and stems? Or will they turn green again?

If the branches are dead, cut them off at the base and new ones should regrow. Check to make sure the branch is dead first by giving it the scratch test. Here is how:
