Why did my red tip shrub die suddenly? It one of 4 in a row. The rest are fine.

Red Bud Photinia are prone to disease.
This sounds very much like Verticullum wilt.
Examine the leaves and stems of your shrubs and remove the dead plant material to lessen the exposure to your remaining plants.
