I planted three red tip photinias and two are dying and one is doing great. Why?

This type of situation is often caused by a planting mishap or intrinsic plant health issues. If you bought bare root saplings, the roots could have been not spread properly or one root could have been wrapped around the others when the plant was placed in the ground. Or, the plant could have been damaged or unhealthy when it was grown in the nursery.
