Q.Really Stinky Thick Roots – What Are They?

Zone MK44 | Mmargetts added on April 29, 2023 | Answered

We\’ve been digging an area next to a tree and come across some thickish roots about 1-2cm. They smell awful, fishy. The smell stays on the skin and you can\’t get it off. They don\’t appear to be coming from tree. Any ideas what these might be? There are no other bushes or trees in the area. Thanks

Fungal infection is one possiblity. You might take them to the farm extension office to verify.
