Q.Raised beds

Zone Louisville, KY 40204 | Dragonwerx added on March 26, 2016 | Answered

I have some old wood that was covered in tar paper. Is it safe to use that wood to build raised beds?

I was unable to find any research on the transfer of petro chemicals to wood.

I personally would advise not using any chemical treated material for a raised bed, but I don't think the risk with the wood you mention is even measurable.
