Q.Raised Bed

Anonymous added on May 4, 2014 | Answered

I want to use cement cinder blocks as a raised bed for asparagus crown planting. Are the cement cinder blocks ok to use, or will anything bad leach out of the cinder blocks?

These are actually fine for creating and using for raised beds. I use them myself. The only downfall that I have seen with using cinder blocks is their ability to draw lots of heat - which is both good and bad. Good in that many garden plants thrive in the warmer soil, bad in that you may need to water more, especially during hot weather.
