Q.Radishes

Zone Casa Grande, AZ 85193 | robert meyer added on March 30, 2017 | Answered

Seeds come up and get small leaves. Planted 14/18 days ago. They stop growing and the leaves turn a dark red. The soil is moist, the ph is 7, the soil was from a nursery. What am I doing wrong? This happened both in my fall garden and now again this summer, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers cucumbers and beans all growing. I have drip irrigation on everything but the radishes, have soaker hose on them.

A phosphorus deficiency could cause red leaves, and various nutrient deficiencies could cause stunted growth. If the weather is cold, it could also cause seedlings to turn red and grow very slowly. You could try adding some compost. Also make sure they are not planted too close together.
