Plum Trees

Q.Purple plum tree with black fungus pods. What needs to be done. We live in Armonk, New York 45 minutes north of Manhattan.

Is it safe to cut the branches affected at this time-late April? Advise on proper fungicide for it in my area.

Prune out diseased limbs at any time. Use a fungicide that has the type of tree listed on the label or it shouldn't be used. These articles should help:
