pruning saucer magnolia

Question

I’m in zone 4 in NY. I need to prune my saucer magnolia some, as it is getting HUGE! I’m afraid of pruning to late and thus cutting of next years blooms. I believe next years blooms set this year. How late is safe?

Pruning should be done in early spring. Do not prune after July 1.
