Q.Pruning hydrangeas

Zone 14225-3609 | Anonymous added on September 16, 2019 | Answered

How and when do I prune my Hydrangeas — what do I do when it is fall and there are still flowers? Some are dead some still alive on the bushes?
Thank you

You can trim off the dead hydrangea heads but be careful not to cut too far back on the stem if your hydrangea blooms on old wood (previous season's growth) as many of the mopheads do. If you look closely, you can see the buds forming. Only trim up to the buds.
