Pruning Eucalyptus Tree

Question

I purchased a small Eucalyptus plant early this summer and have planted it in a fairly large pot out on the patio. It is growing nicely. I noticed that I will need to prune it. When would suggest that I do that? I will have to bring it in the house this winter, so I don’t want a terribly big tree to bring in. We live in Kansas. Do the trees put out fragrance?
