Q.Pruning a smoke tree

Zone Australia, Northern NSW | pkse added on January 22, 2017 | Answered

I have a fairly large smoke tree (bush), about 4 metres high. I wish to cut it back, as it is over a fence and I’m concerned it may overload and break limbs indiscriminately. How hard is it possible to prune?

Thank you very much for your help.
Peter Gerard.

You can prune a smoke tree quite hard, even down to the ground, and it will grow back fine.

Here is some advice on the timing of smoke tree/bush pruning:
