Pruning a Lady Finger Palm

tdickey added on February 16, 2016 | Answered

We have a 12" lady finger palm in our office. It has been neglected, and I am trying to revive it. The palms are all yellow and hard. Can I cut them off? If so, will they grow back. I have tried misting them, but they are not changing at all.

New fronds grow from the center out.
You can trim lower fronds as they age and become discolored.
If the new growth is dead, it may be that the trunk has died, this would cause all of the fronds to eventually turn brown and dry.
If it is just the tips of the fronds, this can be due to excess heat, sunlight or not watering the entire root system throughly.

If you see no new growth, your plant may have perished.
