Q.Pruning Fig Tree Now

Anonymous added on April 16, 2012 | Answered

The season has started and I am behind in my pruning. I have a fig tree in the greenhouse and it has already leafed out quite a bit. It is overgrown and I need to cut it back. Is it OK to prune once it has broken dormancy?

I would not recommend pruning while it is leafed out as this may affect the fruit. If you have to cut it due to size constraints, then do so, but realize that it will not help with the growing fruit.
