Q.Problems in veg garden

Zone 64701 | brbdyer420@gmail.com added on June 30, 2019 | Answered

I am not sure what is going on in my garden but I’m thinking maybe fungus? And I went out two days ago and of course my Iris were done for the year and the foliage was still there but it was all brown and spotted and just looked really really bad and my yard is on a downward, pretty extreme slope and my garden drops down from the yard. It seems as though all this problematic stuff is in my garden in the last couple of days. And here in Missouri we’ve had quite a bit of rain but in my garden the ground is cracking like it is extremely dry. I’m wondering if maybe since I have a sloping yard and the iris bed looked horrible, I’m wondering could it be fungus would run down my yard off of that Iris bed and go into my garden? Just sounds logical but that doesn’t mean it’s right. Anyway, any help that you could give me as to maybe what you’re seeing on the pictures I’m sending and what might be going on? I would very much appreciate any help I can get.

It certainly could be! I shows characteristics, and the weather is right for it. Rainy seasons can come with many fungal/bacterial problems.

There are many broad spectrum fungicides, and most of the time, casting DOLOMITIC LIME and WETTABLE SULFUR through the whole yard according to the instructions will take care of things.

If your soil is clay and compacted, then you will want to break that up to keep runoff at a minimum. This article will help you to amend clay soils: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/how-to-improve-clay-soil.htm
