Q.Plum tree problem

We have a Victoria plum tree, some three years old, last year it produced a good crop of good healthy plums, this year it has produced a much larger crop, but a lot of the fruits have a sort of resin on them and this causes the fruit to rot. Is this what is known as “brown rot” ?? See pictures, I removing them as and hen detected, any help and advice would be a great help.
