Please Tell Me How I Can Grow Aubrieta Next Spring.

Question

I have tried many times in different gardens, without success, and have tried to give the plants the conditions they need. Present garden is a real challenge as soil is very acidic with no depth so mine is a container garden. I do not have a wall, unfortunately, only a fence which is North-facing. I do have quite a few granite rocks from an old Cornish hedge and have been planning to make some kind of rockery, but assume that acidic Cornish soil will have been formed from the local stone. Can you suggest any way I can surmount these difficulties and have a riot of pink and purple aubrieta tumbling down whatever slope can be devised to make them happy? This is the second question this morning, but I can’t find answers in my gardening books so would be so grateful for your help.

You need to add lime to your soil to decrease the acidity for these plants.
