Q.planting seeds

Anonymous added on November 3, 2014 | Answered

I have a few Pride of Barbados seeds and going to plant them now and winter them indoors. I know you nick them and soak for approx. 24 hrs . My question is, which end to nick and how deep to sow. I read I’m supposed to nick the pointed end but I don’t know how deep of a nick and depth to plant? Thanks.

For the nick, you just need to damage the seed coat. Many people like to rub seeds on a bit of sand paper just enough to scuff them up as a way to nick the seeds.

General rule of thumb is to plant seeds 3x deeper than they are big.
