Q.Planting Mesquite in Spain

Zone 5042TB | Sander Krijnen added on November 20, 2017 | Answered

Dear mr. or mrs.

What is your advice on planting Mesquite trees in Spain? My goal is to create a food forest with several plants that don’t need much water. However, I’ve found several articles that Mesquite can be very invasive. Since Mesquite isn’t native in Spain I do not want to introduce a species that is invasive.

Regards, Sander

Although I would not recommend growing this in ground, it would never hurt to have one in container to keep it from spreading. This article will give you more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/mesquite/potted-mesquite-trees.htm
