Q.Pest on viburnum

Zone Troon Scotland | Anonymous added on June 17, 2017 | Answered

I have a brown segmented caterpillar type pest ferociously munching through my whole vibirnum at a tremendous rate.

Last year I thought my plant had died however it made a slow comeback this year. I think it may have been the pest which ate all the leaves last year.

The leaves are full of holes and covered in black dots which appears to be the faeces of the pest.

I have attached a photograph of the pest.

I would be grateful if you could identify the pest and provide advice on how to resolve the issue.

Many thanks

Lynne Walker

This appears to be a Viburnum beetle.
