Q.Persian shield new growth browned/pale–HELP

Zone 90026 | LSLA added on October 20, 2018 | Answered

I have two Persian Shields that are both exhibiting the same thing. The top growth seems fine and healthy, but as you go closer to the soil, new small leaves have browned edges or tips and often turn pale pink and die. I saw this same pattern in Persian Shields at a botanical garden so wonder if this is just what happens to the shaded leaves toward the bottom of the plant? I don’t see evidence of any pests. I’m in Southern California and the plants are outside on a balcony where they get mostly bright shade and a little direct sun. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

If this is the only problem that you are seeing, then I don't suspect there to be an issue. At the very least, you can try to increase the light just a little bit, and this may help some.
