Patio Cherry Tree

Question

How can I save my patio cherry tree. The leaves are curling and going brown then falling off. Not all are affected. Should I prune the worse affected branches?

Since there is no USDA hardiness zone indicated, one would assume this is normal fall behavior. Cherry trees of all types have been bare in zone 6b for 3 weeks.
