Q.Palmetto Palm

Anonymous added on September 12, 2012 | Answered

Why are my palm leaves turning brown so early? We haven’t had a freeze. The palm has been in ground for 7 months and stands 12′. Is this normal, and will it turn green on the fronds by early spring?

If the palm is in-ground, especially newly planted, there may be air pockets in the soil, which are preventing the roots from taking up water. This can be alleviated by flooding the area with water and tamping down the soil around the plant to collapse any air pockets.
