Q.Outdoor Yucca Plant

Anonymous added on July 3, 2011 | Answered

My yucca plant leaves are turning brown, black and falling off. There are black spots on a lot of leaves. This plant is about 5 feet high and was doing well for the last 4 years. It gets a lot of sun, but we had a lot of rain for about three weeks in Florida. Is there anything I can use to get it looking good again?

It is probably getting too wet. Check the drainage to make sure it's not sitting in water as a result of all the rain. There's not much you can do about the rain, but once it stops, allow the plant to dry out some and remove all the dying foliage. Hopefully, once the soil has dried out, it will bounce back. However, these plants do not like to remain wet for too long and root rot can quickly set in.
