Q.Oriental Poppy plant

Zone Vermont | Kathyconnor21@gmail.com added on June 27, 2017 | Answered

After the petals fall off and you are left with a big seed pod of the oriental poppy, when do you cut them off and what do you do with them. Can you dry them out and plant them for another time? Are they seed pods? Do you cut the plant back?

Yes you can dead head the spent bloom, by cutting the flower stem back near the plant crown. You can leave them on the plant to ripen to use for seeds later. Some people also leave the seed heads because they are unique. They can also be used for dry floral arrangements. Here's some articles that will help
