Q.One Of My Vandas Is Growing 2 New Stems
I have 4 vandas and in the last month it started throwing a new stems from The heart of the base of the main stem. Now it’s starting to grow a 3rd stem so it looks like I’m going to have 3 main stems. Is this normal? None of the others are doing it. Will I be able to separate them from the main stem once they start developing their own roots? It didn’t look like it as they are actually a part of the original stem. I didn’t think vandas did this, having said that I am fairly new to vandas. I tried to Google but didn’t find much. Thanks in advance. You can see the first new stem in fist pic. The second is still forming and is a bump much like a root when it starts but it’s a stem.

As these plants grow, it is normal for them to branch out. Unless they do grow their own roots, however, I would not cut them off. It would be best to let it continue to avoid stressing the plant.
