Q.Non-Blooming Lilac Bush

Anonymous added on May 17, 2011 | Answered

I have a Miss Kim lilac bush that did not bloom at all this year. It was planted by a landscaper in the late summer two years ago. Last year it bloomed. I did not prune it at all last year; however, I did snip some of the flowers to bring indoors.

There was not a single bloom this year. The bush looks healthy. There are no signs of insect damage and there is a lot of new leaf growth this season. It’s in a spot that gets at least 5-6 hours of sun every day. I’d like to know what, if anything, I can do this year to promote blossoming next year. And, will I be able to tell this year if there are buds forming, or will I just have to wait until next spring to see if the bush will bloom?
