Q.Native Flowers of Kansas

Anonymous added on January 14, 2014 | Answered

I just purchased a house in Toronto, Kansas. I want to plant native plants that will attract blue birds, hummingbirds and butterflies. Which plants will accomplish all this? And to keep out deer.

You're in Zone 6a. Suitable plants that attract wildlife in your area include gayfeather, aster, camas, thistle, butterfly milkweed, touch-me-not and trumpet vine. For additional plant info, this link should help: http://www.kswildflower.org/ As for the deer issue, this article should be of some help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/deer/deer-repellents.htm
