Name of most common lawn

We have a patch of garden that doesn’t have any grass. We want to get lawn seeds but we don’t know which seeds to get. We don’t want to have different types of grass. How can we get the correct lawn seeds?

You could have a landscaper come take a look at the grass you currently have to determine what you have and go from there. You may also be able to take a small sample from your yard to someone in a lawn and garden center or local extension office for advice.
