Q.Mysterious Plant Death

Zone Amersham | Anonymous added on May 12, 2021 | Answered

Last summer a berry tree that had been in our front border died very quickly. It had been there for many years. We planted two jasmine plants in the same place. These last few weeks both were beginning to sprout but suddenly one has died. There are no signs of any fungus on the leaves. Whatever is causing the problems is definitely in the soil. How can I save the other jasmine bush?

I would dig up the jasmine and relocate it. Then you might want to have your soil tested.

Here's an article from the University of Florida that may be useful: https://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/woody/tree-suddenly-dies.shtml
and here's a GKH article on the subject: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/sudden-tree-death-causes.htm
