Q.My Sago Palm

Zone 46360 | mainstreet.usa@gmx.com added on May 12, 2016 | Answered

I purchased a beautiful Sago Palm at a local garden center. It is about 12″ tall, (above the ball) and has 9 nicely developed leaves. The “ball” is about 3″ in diameter. I am wondering if there is a way to guess approximately how old it is. I know they are an ancient plant that grows very slowly. I have no practical reason for wanting to know. I just love the plant, and I am curious.

Most smaller Sago Palms that are the size that you purchased are in the 3 to 5 year old range.
