Rubber Tree Plants
Q.

My rubber trees’ leaves are very sticky

Zone New Jersey | Elitta added on June 9, 2014 | Answered

My rubber trees' leaves are very sticky and have little things on them. At first I thought they were bugs of some sort. But no the sap, I guess, gets all over the rug and my furniture.

Yes. Your plant has an infestation of scale insects, which secrete a sticky substance called honeydew. Eliminate the bugs, as in the following article, and you can use soap and water to wash the residue off furniture and floors.
