Q.My Large Jade Has Mealybugs. Help!
Hello. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my Jade has mealybugs – lots of them. I immediately swabbed all I could find with a Q tip with alcohol. They have lessened, but are still there. I’m afraid of the plant not surviving this — it was my grandmother’s. Can I do anything more intensive? Spraying with insecticidal soap? Anything? The leaves are beginning t flatten out and I am so worried about it. Thank you so much!

You did the right thing with the alcohol swabs. Another way to eliminate them is to use a systemic pesticide in the soil the next time you water. It will travel up through the plant and kill the mealybugs when they feed on the plant.
