Q.My irises are suffering from rot?

Zone 27529 | Anonymous added on July 5, 2020 | Answered

I moved iris from shade to mostly sunny and the blades are falling off at ground level.
I moved them during the fall into the sunnier location. I have treated for voles, even though this seems to be above ground. I treated with sevin, in case of insect damage, but still happening. I have removed pine straw, maybe that will help.
I have loamy sand soil, so watering everyday.

Any help?

Irises are actually quite drought tolerant. They may be overwatered. Removing the pine needles should help. You do not need to mulch irises.

When you planted them, did you leave the top of the rhizome above the soil to bask in the sun?
