Q.Husband Cut Down Gardenias

Anonymous added on March 10, 2014 | Answered

My husband, without asking, cut down my beautiful gardenias. We are in eastern Hanover County, VA. What are the chances they will survive? The plants are about 12 years old and were beautiful plants!

It is difficult to say for certain, as pruning more than a third of the plant in a given year can not only affect blooming but its overall health as well. Chances are the plants will come back but, like I said, blooming will be affected.
