My Hibiscus plant leaves and buds turn yellow and drop off.

Question

I have tried keeping it moist and also dry but it doesn’t seem to matter what I do. we stay in Ayrshire.

There are quite a few conditions that will cause this. Your plant is stressed, probably by insect infestation. Here's an article that will help:
