Q.My Beautiful Orange Lantana Is Dying

Zone 85301 | KurdishLantana added on January 26, 2020 | Answered

Hi! I have 2 beautiful and matured lantana bushes in the back yard. An orange circular lantana on one side of my garden, and a purple confetti one against a wall. Sadly, I noticed my orange lantana started dying after my landscaper trimmed it from the top on one of regular visits. I am not sure it that is the reason, or if pests are the reason for my orange lantana dying. Today, I also noticed some white spots on my purple confetti. Does the same fate awaits my confetti lantana as well? I love these plants. I would like some advice on how save my lantana please!! I have attached some photos for your review. Thank you in advance for helping me save my lantana plants!!

Yes, it looks like the shrub has contracted an infection. This can happen when pruned during a cold spell, or during the Fall wet season.

Normally, these will be pruned in late Winter or Spring, but can be pruned before the Summer heat as well.

For now, I would recommend treating with a fungicide. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/info/using-fungicides-in-garden.htm
